Cross-chain NFTs from the Espresso Ecosystem

Meet Your Next PFP: The Composables, Dropping on Rarible

Meet The Composables – your new PFP from Espresso Network. With bold artwork, a solid community, and next-level tech, this is not a collection you want to miss.

Espresso Network is building the base layer for a more connected blockchain world—one where apps, users, and assets can move freely across chains. By enabling cross-chain composability, Espresso helps make the onchain ecosystem feel like a single, unified network.

Now, they’re bringing that vision to life with The Composables, a modular NFT avatar collection launching soon on Rarible. With retrofuturistic, mix-and-match traits and four role-based categories, these avatars celebrate the creativity, connectivity, and collaboration that define the Espresso community—and the interoperable future it’s building.

The Composables aren’t just PFPs—they’re a first-hand look at how NFTs can evolve and interact across multiple chains. Dropping on RARI chain this Friday, May 30, for 0.0359 ETH.

We sat down with Jill Gunter, the CSO of Espresso Network to learn more about this brilliant collection.

From team avatar to community collection

What started as a fun way for the core Espresso team to represent themselves online steadily grew into a X edition PFP collection. Fully composable, fully onchain.

Jill: "These PFPs or avatars started as a fun way for core Espresso contributors to represent themselves on social media and beyond. We soon saw organic demand from crypto community members to get PFPs in this style, and the project grew from there.

In the first Espresso community call, which included some early ideas about the upcoming collection, we invited anyone in the audience to share thoughts on the traits they’d like to see represented. Some community members got back to us and inspired traits that made it into the final collection - including the bubble gum pop and the builder’s hard hat!"

The Espresso team recognised that this was an opportunity to really showcase the vision that underlines their tech. This wouldn’t be just any old PFP collection. This would be a composable and cross-chain collection.

Today, it is very cumbersome to move an NFT from one chain to another. For chains in the Espresso ecosystem, this will become easier, faster, and more secure than is possible today!

Jill: "This collection paves the way for future product showcases - like moving between various chains integrated with Espresso to earn POAPs / passport stamps for the NFT".

Bringing modularity to life: the art behind The Composables

Creating The Composables collection was a labor of love by artist Martin Egrt (also one of the geniuses behind Espresso’s visual brand). Composability was the guiding force informing his designs.

Jill: "Composability is the inspiration behind the artistic direction: we knew it would be important to have a variety of features that could all compose with each other, representing how the apps and chains of Espresso’s ecosystem can mix and match to create new, innovative, and surprising combinations".

The collection includes four avatar categories, with a wide variety of traits spread across them.

Martin envisioned the original traits, drawing inspiration from hallmark PFP collections, while also inventing entirely new components. He spent many, many hours working through which combinations of traits would work well together and which might be incompatible.

We also knew that we would want there to be a variety of archetypes and roles to represent the range of contributors to the Espresso ecosystem - from explorers, to creators, to devs, to researchers, and beyond. We are so excited to see what resonates with the community.

Trading Across Chains, Starting with RARI

Partnering with Rarible marketplace and RARI chain were an easy decision for the Espresso team. RARI was the very first chain to integrate into the Espresso system, and Rarible’s focus on a multi-chain future means it’s culturally aligned. The Composables is launching on RARI chain on Friday, but will be fully tradeable across the entire Espresso ecosystem.

We are thrilled to have the collection call RARI chain its native home. RARI was the first chain to integrate with Espresso for cross-chain confirmations and the team behind RARI has consistently been at the forefront of innovating in their stack to give their users the best experience.

Jill: "Unlike most NFT collections - wherein the NFTs are difficult to migrate from one chain to another - the goal with The Composables is to leverage Espresso to get them moving seamlessly throughout the Espresso ecosystem. We are excited to be working on products and features that will enable this functionality over the coming months".

Over time, the NFTs will evolve as they move across chains, reflecting the dynamic and evolving nature of the Espresso Network itself.

Jill: "There are a few different ideas that contributors have had for how The Composables NFTs will represent their crosschain activity - evolution of traits; addition of features; special POAPs or even “passports” for each NFT. We look forward to experimenting in all of these ways with the community!"

The Composables goes live at 9AM ET on Friday 30th, and is priced at 0.0359 ETH. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a community pushing the boundaries of cross-chain systems. To learn more about minting on RARI chain, see our simple guide.
