This past couple of months, Rarible team has been working hard on improving the marketplace experience for both creators & collectors and implementing governance. The community has been super engaged and supportive over this time!
What has already been done:
- governance forum launched
- 70+ proposals being discussed
- consensus successfully reached in voting on the amount of fees
Now, several major governance updates are on the way. This post is to help you keep up with those.
Community Grants pilot: $5000 allocation
With this voting launched on 09/30/2020, we are kicking off a huge governance experiment on Rarible: community grants! As we aim at becoming a fully community-governed NFT marketplace, user participation is vital to align incentives and establish sustainable development. And it has to be rewarded!
The proposal was set to allocate the first two community grants as a pilot, worth a total of $5000. $RARI holders had a choice of several options, based on the discussions lead at https://gov.rarible.com/:
- Logarithmic $RARI distribution — research & modeling
- Anti-wash trading — tool development
- Reduced fees in $RARI — research & modeling
- Historical airdrop — collecting data
- Other
The community voted for the grant allocation to 1) Logarithmic $RARI distribution — research & modeling, and 2) Reduced fees in $RARI — research & modeling. Further steps will be announced later this week.
What are community grants?
Community grants are funds to be allocated to community members that spend their time and efforts doing a particular set of tasks, beneficial to Rarible as a platform, it’s creators and collectors. There are tasks in different categories: research, additional development, marketing, and more.
Important: as this is a pilot program for community grants, we further aim at allocating larger sums for community grants in these categories, each to be proposed and voted on separately once the process is streamlined.
Electing ambassador program lead
As we kick-start governance processes, we are getting ready to launch the ambassador program. To get this rolling, we need a dedicated and motivated community member to become Rarible lead ambassador.
What are the lead ambassador responsibilities?
- Forming a sustainable ambassador program that works
- Coordinating ambassadors
- Addressing matters related to the program
The community is welcome to suggest candidates in the forum thread.
